Koboko- Residents of Koboko are living in fear after two people were allegedly killed within one week.
One of the body was discovered by the locals after they were dumped in the bush, while another was killed on allegations of witchcraft.
The District Police Commander, Samuel Abwang, said at the weekend that Moses Chandiga, a resident of Leiko Parish in Dranya Sub-county was killed on allegations of practicing witchcraft which has not been proved.
“We have always warned people not to engage in mob justice. We shall arrest the perpetrators and prosecute them without compromise.”
Abwang said people in the villages should remain vigilant on their security. According to the medical report, Chandiga succumbed to injuries he sustained after the attack by the mob.
Earlier, residents of Midrambe village in Midia Parish Midia Sub-county Koboko district discovered an unidentified body that was dumped in the bush at Gbengi forest.
Bran Achikule, the LC3 chairman of the Sub county said: “We were taken by shock on learning about it. For long we have not experienced such kind of thing, I just got information from police that somebody was killed down here at Gbengi-next to UNHCR garage.”
Similarly, in August last year, a mob attacked a Uganda Christian University (UCU) student and former office attendant of Koboko municipality on his way home and beat him to death over claims of grabbing clan land.
Koboko district has registered two death cases within the same month of February where two people have been killed by yet unidentified groups of people.
